CAIRO: A number of political powers and public personalities will announce an electoral code of conduct signed by representatives of most parties and independents running in upcoming parliamentary elections during a press conference scheduled to be held on Tuesday. Public coordinator of the initiative Hany Khorshid said the code of conduct has 12 articles of moral principles agreed upon by signatories, including not using thugs, not assaulting others, implementing transparency, and not bribing voters. He also said a large number of political and national powers, in addition to independents, expressed their solidarity with the initiative. He added the committee, which prepared the code of conduct, included public personalities who agreed not to support any candidates during the upcoming parliamentary elections. A number of high-profile Egyptian figures signed the initiative, such as author Alaa al-Aswany, Judge Zakareya Abdel Aziz, Broadcaster Amr al-Leithi, Public Coordinator of April 6 Youth Movement Ahmed Maher and Dr. Hazem Abdel Azeem.
