CAIRO: The Egyptian Revolutionaries Alliance welcomed the Arab League's decisions to suspend Syrian membership in the Arab League. The alliance called on Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf to make Egypt the first country to withdraw its ambassador from Damascus. It also called on Sharaf to not recognize Bashar al-Assad's regime while he kills his people to stay in power. In a statement, the alliance's spokesman Amer Wakeel, called upon the ruling military council to take positive action towards the Syrian revolutionaries as fast as possible, so Egypt can help stop the bloodshed in Syria. Egypt and Syria were one state in the last century, and the Syrian people respect Egyptians, added Wakeel. He also asserted the alliance's support for Arab League's call for Syrian troops to not kill their civilian brothers.
