CAIRO: There is no dispute with Amr Hamzawy, the professor of economics and politics at Cairo University, said independent parliamentary candidate Asmaa Mahfouz. Both are running for the same constituency in the Masr al-Gadida district of Cairo. “The district is close to the region where I grew up and I know that Hamzawy will run for the Qasr al-Nil constituency,” said Mahfouz. “Competition with Hamzawy will be fair,” she continued, adding that the varied number of political forces running for seats in the new parliament will decrease the chances of former members of the now-dissolved National Democratic Party (NDP) securing seats.
