Domestic tourism in Egypt markedly increased during the Eid al-Adha feast by as much as 80 percent, particularly in Hurghada in the Red Sea, according to Red Sea Tourist Commodities Chamber Chairman Mustafa Raslan. Raslan said foreign tourism dropped by 20 percent in November compared to October. Raslan told Youm7 that Egyptians like to visit Hurghada seasonally, which leads to a notable rise in purchasing movement. He added that most bazaar owners reduced the prices of their commodities to overcome the current recession that hit the tourist market. He predicted that domestic tourism will keep increasing during November, while foreign tourism will witness a notable rise during the winter season, especially from Russia, as the Russians prefer to spend the winter in Egypt.
