Arabic:حزب الغد الثورة Established: August 2011 (recognized October 2011) Key members: Ayman Nour, founder Official website: www.aymannour.net (also Nour's official website) Al-Ghad al-Thawra (Revolution's Tomorrow) Party was formally licensed in October 2011 as a reformation of the al-Ghad (Tomorrow) Party, founded by lawyer and then-parliamentarian Ayman Nour in 2004. Al-Ghad al-Thawra, also known as al-Ghad al-Gadeed (New Tomorrow) is a liberal and secular political party that calls for a directly elected representative government. The party champions decentralization of power in the provinces and complete separation of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. The party's establishment was announced on August 16, 2011. The Political Affairs Committee initially rejected the party's establishment because it's name was too similar to al-Ghad Party, but a Supreme Court ruling in October 2011 officially recognized the party. Nour established al-Ghad al-Thawra partly to formally separate his faction of al-Ghad from a faction that recognizes Moussa Mustafa Moussa as its head. Al-Ghad Party split between the two factions in 2005, with divisions growing more pronounced after Nour was imprisoned in 2006 on forgery charges he maintains were politically motivated.
