CAIRO: The amendments to a supra-constitutional document proposed by Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister Ali el-Selmy are incomplete, says Ayman Nour. Nour, a lawyer and prominent liberal politician, has refused the document in its entirety. He said the document has come at the wrong time and thus should be cancelled. The amendments proposed for the most controversial articles are partial and not new, Nour added. The Egyptian Cabinet should support the “one-hand” idea – a reference to a popular chant – to unify all powers and trends in order to revive security and the nation's trust in the police and to secure upcoming parliamentary elections. The document proposed by el-Selmy has drawn outcry from many Egyptian trends, particularly liberals and secularists.
