CAIRO: Founder of the al-Ghad Party Ayman Nour today condemned remarks by William Taylor, an official responsible for Middle East Affairs in the U.S. Department of State, made in Foreign Policy Magazine. Taylor's remarks concerned financial support regarding the Egyptian transitional period. “These remarks may spread confusion on the street because it increases the suspicion of Egyptian citizens toward political parties,” Nour told Youm7. Nour called on Taylor to reveal the names of the Egyptian parties that requested U.S. financial support. Member of the Supreme Authority in the Egyptian Social Democratic Party Fareed Zahran today condemned any U.S. support for political parties, either financial or material. However Abu el-Ezz al-Hariry, a member of the Social People's Coalition Party, did not outright refuse U.S. subsidies, so long as they are not used for profiteering.
