Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fayza Aboul Naga researched ways for future cooperation between Egypt and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The research aims to widen the bank's operations to include Egypt as well as southern and eastern Mediterranean countries for the first time. Aboul Naga welcomed a delegation from European Bank, which included Executive Director Bob Makmolan and General Secretary Enzo Koaterciucky. Egypt will be the first country in the region to fully benefit from the bank's resources via cooperation funds from the bank. The minister expressed her happiness for the new role played by the bank in the region. She said the bank would benefit Egypt through its expertise in small and medium enterprises and private financing. She said activating cooperative funds is an important step toward benefiting from the funds' resources. The bank's delegation came to Cairo for the “Stimulating Growth and Investment in the Next Period” conference, held on Oct. 24 and organized the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Heads of the Federation of Industries, and the Young Businessmen's Association.
