The April 6 Youth Movement and the Democratic Front criticized Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister, Ali el-Selmy, after he did not invite youth groups to a conference Tuesday to discuss a document of supra-constitutional principles. They accused Selmy of adopting the same policies pursued by Mubarak's regime. "Egypt is not your manor,” said a statement sent to the government. “We will not accept turning the army to a separate entity. Egypt will not be like Turkey, as the Egyptian army will remain as a part of the people." The movement threatened to protest the legitimacy of the military institution through strikes and demonstrations. “We do not want incomplete freedom,” they said. “Death is better than living under a military state." They added that the ruling military council spoke about respecting the legitimacy of referendum, while not preventing remnants of the dissolved National Democratic Party from running for in the upcoming elections. The movement said that the difference between Egypt and Tunisia is that the Tunisians managed to restore their dignity, while the Egyptian government adopted the same policies of the former regime.
