Grand Imam of al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayeb praised UNESCO's decision to provide full membership to a Palestinian state, considering the decision as a victory of truth, peace and tolerance. He considered the decision as a step that will pave the way for international recognition of Palestine by granting it the full membership of the United Nations. He added that the whole world realizes the injustice and violence from which the Palestinians suffer, so it is the time to establish the Palestinian state. Tayeb praised the role which the Arab and Islamic nations played to achieve such important victory, saying the decision could open the door to a new era to serve humanity and overpowered peoples. He called the U.S and other countries that support Israel to deal with the Palestinian cause as the most important issue in the world. He said this would contain the troubles that the Palestinian people face and suspend the double-standard policies adopted by the West towards Arab issues. He warned of the increasing hatred resulting from unjustified bias to Israel, renewing Azhar's support for the Palestinians right establish their independent state.
