The student died after he was shot while driving his car with two friends. Issawy ordered the examination of the officers' files since graduation. One of the accused tried to throw himself out a window after his detention was extended. The minister expressed his anger at the incident. The Court of South Giza extended the detention of the two officers by 15 days pending investigations. Prosecutors indicted the two men on charges of premeditated murder of the victim and the attempted murder of his two friends. The prosecution and investigators reported that while Moataz Anwar, 23 was driving his car with his two friends, Haitham Mohamed and Khaled Midhat, on Sheikh Zayed road they were stopped by a police car to check their licenses.
