Arabic: مركز النديم للعلاج والتأهيل النفسي لضحايا العنف Non-profit, non-governmental organization Established: August 1993 The Nadim Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence aims to provide psychological and social rehabilitation to victims of violence. This includes victims of torture; domestic, social and institutional violence; and rape and sexual abuse. The organization also organizes campaigns on certain violence and torture related issues. It hosts activities to raise awareness in several Egyptian governorates. The Nadeem Center is based in Cairo with a staff of 10 who work in two shifts at the center. The center has also started a women's program to train 10 volunteers to advocate and carry out support to female victims of violence in Egypt. Within the framework of that network, the center has provided training in management, rehabilitation of victims of torture, and documentation of torture cases in Lebanon, Morocco and Sudan. From 1993 to 2000, the Nadim Center provided psychological, social, and/or legal aid to 1,102 victims. Of those, around two-thirds were male and only a small percentage were children. One-third of those were Egyptian. The center campaigns against torture in particular. It is also a founded member of a safety-net network of a number of centers working against torture in North Africa.
