Egyptian Minister of Education Ahmed Gamal el-Din Moussa met with a UNESCO delegation yesterday. They met to discuss educational issues to be presented at the organization's General Conference on November 1-7, which will be held at UNESCO's headquarters. All 198 member states will attend UNESCO's General Conference. The organization is working to achieve the goal of “Education for All” by 2015. In another context, during a meeting with teachers, Moussa promised to discuss the possibility of granting a teachers' academy diploma to certify teachers so teachers do not have to go through college to obtain a degree, in order to facilitate certification. Moussa said the academy has already created a diploma for teachers of the blind. Regarding the problems of offering performance incentives for teachers in the provinces, Moussa said public holidays will be given the consideration of a working day. “The ministry will work on creating a training course for managers of financial affairs in the departments and directorates to address this issue,” he said. He also said that the ministry aims to develop educational channels.
