CAIRO: Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf said today that he does not wish to stay in power. Sharaf said he is aware that his responsibility is to hand authority over to a legitimately elected authority. Sharaf is Egypt's first prime minister after a popular uprising toppled Egypt's former regime in February. “When I came into power during this transitional phase, I was aware that my basic task was to mitigate the way for a legitimately elected authority to make [the decisions,]” Sharaf said today on his official Facebook page.
