CARIO: An Egyptian delegation will participate in the Rwandan-organized 3rd Nile Basin Development Forum on Wednesday, said Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hisham Qandil Sudan will also participate in the Forum. Over 200 experts and representatives from Nile Basin states and other countries will attend the two-day forum. This conference is a continuation in a series of Nile conferences, dating back to 2002, designed to maintain open dialogue regarding the issues surrounding the Nile Basin, said an Egyptian ministry source. The forum will discuss climate change and its impact on sustainable development as well as technologies that can help combat the negative effects of climate change – desertification, drought, floods and high temperatures. The attendees will also discuss the influence of climate change on the economic and social development of the Nile Basin states, intra-border cooperation and the challenges of food security and energy. It is expected that the forum will issue a concluding report about the Nile River in order to make authorized and accurate information about increasing awareness of the natural environment available.
