An official source at the petroleum sector said the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Khaled Toukan, is expected to arrive in Egypt this month to sign an agreement amending the price of gas exported to Jordan, recently approved by the two countries. “The new agreement gives Egypt a large increase in export prices of gas,” the source said. “The new agreement enables Egypt to reduce the minimum volume of gas exported to Jordan in case of domestic market need.” According to the source, the agreement also allows Egypt to revise gas prices in 2013 rather than 2019, as per the previous agreement. The source said there is a difference between the contracts to export gas to Jordan and the agreement to export gas to Israel. The agreement to export gas to Jordan is an agreement between two governments, while the agreement to export gas to Israel is an agreement between gas companies.
