CAIRO: Egypt's Council of Ministries, headed by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, today approved amending law No. 96 regarding the Supreme Press Council. Official spokesman for the Council of Ministries Mohamed Higazy said this law will be replaced. The new law says the Supreme Press Council may not include more than ten editors-in-chief of political parties' newspapers. The editors-in-chief to be on the council will be selected by the Shura Council, the upper house of Egypt's bicameral parliament, according to the political parties' law. The new law also provides that in case the political party has more than one newspaper only one editor-in-chief will be included on the Supreme Press Council.
