The head of the Egyptian Opera House, Abdel Moneim Kamel, decided that the 23rd anniversary celebration of the Opera house would be free for audiences. The celebration was scheduled to be held at the beginning of this month but it was postponed to mourn the victims of the Maspiro Clashes. It will be held on Oct. 23 at the grand theatre at 8:00 pm. The celebration will include all kinds of fine arts. More than 500 Egyptian artists from the different classical bands will participate. It should be noted that the idea behind building the new Opera house was to establish a center aiming to present the fine arts to revive the Egyptian artistic heritage. The Egyptian Opera house was founded in October 1988 through a cooperative effort through the Ministry of Culture and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.
