Governor of the New Valley governorate Major General Tariq Mahdi met Monday with a number of tourism operators at his office to discuss new ways of promoting and stimulating tourism in the governorate and in the Western Oases. During the meeting the parties agreed to hold an international tourism festival, which will be organized by the companies specializing in safari and medical tourism – two sectors the New Valley governorate is known for. “The New Valley is a top tourism destination in Egypt because of its abundance of hot spring and sulphur wells,” Abdul Aziz al-Alwan, a member of the tourism delegation, told Youm7. “It is also a destination for safaris, which will be promoted at the tourism festival.”
