CAIRO: The Egyptian stock market continued to make gains during the mid-session today, October 16. Foreign investors contributed largely to the purchasing process while Egyptian and Arab investors engaged in selling. The main EGX30 index gained 1.3 percent, the new EGX20 index pulled in 1.2 percent, the small- and medium-sized company EGX70 index grew 2.1 percent and the EGX100 index added 2.1 percent. The total transactions equaled 332.8 million EGP (U.S. $55.74 million). Blue-chip stocks today made gains, including Sodic, up 5.1 percent; Qalaa, up 2.7 percent; Orascom for Construction, up 2.2 percent; Palm Hills, up 3.2 percent; Talaat Mostafa Group, up 1.1 percent; Giza for General Contracting, up 6.01 percent; and International Trade Bank, up 0.17 percent.
