Likely Egyptian presidential candidate Ayman Nour today denied that he was withdrawing from the election, which was published in several newspapers yesterday. “Such rumors began six months ago when my Twitter account was hacked,” Nour said, adding that the hackers published false information on his account. Nour also said that he considers the military council's decision to issue the political isolation law “too late,” as they made the decision after opening nominations for the next parliamentary elections. “Such a law aims at preventing the remnants of the former regime from participating in Egyptian political life, so it was useful to issue such a law before opening the door to submitting requests for nominations,” Nour said. A number of the members of the now disgraced National Democratic Party submitted requests to run in the parliamentary elections, he added. The al-Ghad Party will prepare its final list of candidates for parliamentary elections and they will submit this list on Saturday to the High Committee on Elections.
