Sudanese Vice President Ali Osman Taha and a ministerial delegation arrived in Cairo Tuesday to discuss three main strategic issues, reported the Sudanese newspaper al-Raed. According to the paper, Taha will discuss weapons smuggling from Sudan to Egypt, the Halaeb triangle border dispute, and Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir's indictment at the International Criminal Court (ICC). The paper said that points of contention between the two countries during the Mubarak era revolved around the Sudanese expectations for Egyptian support regarding challenges facing Sudan. The paper listed the recent succession of south Sudan, the ICC, and the possibility of foreign intervention in Darfur as examples.
