Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr Kamel highlighted the importance of Islamic support for the Palestinian cause Monday, during a meeting with Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC). An official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amr Roushdi, said that both parties discussed the Palestinian issue's developments at the UN, and prepared for the next OIC conference. Amr said that the Palestinian cause was the reason behind the establishment of the OIC in 1969. The meeting also discussed coordination by the Islamic and Arab world to support Palestine. The meeting also touched the upcoming OIC conference. Egypt aims to host the conference next year. When he was asked about Islamic doctrines, Ihsanoglu said that the Islamic world has always witnessed different doctrines, and they were living in peace.
