Public Transport Authority (PTA) workers organized a strike again outside the Cabinet Headquarters to protest neglect of their demands, and rejected an offer released by the PTA to end the strike. PTA workers gathered at Abdel Moneim Reyad Square and on Qasi al-Aini street, bringing buses from garages in Badr, Moneib, Giza, Fom al-Khaleeg, and al-Basateen. Workers refused an offer by Mona Mostafa, the head of the PTA, which outlined the distribution of a 60 million EGP (U.S. $10.1 million) package to end the strike. The Ministry of Finance had approved an estimate which would allocate drivers and collectors on network lines 200 EGP a month. Engineering workers and drivers on circuits, and tow trucks would be granted 175 EGP a month, and other employees would be granted 150 EGP. The money will be outlaid beginning in October on the 21st of each month for those who worked the previous 20 days. The statement also says that the PTA is subordinate to Cairo Governorate and would establish a fund to insure the Authority. The statement stressed that strike days will be considered working days.
