Israel has been facing difficulties in staffing its embassy, with some diplomats refusing to work in Egypt, the Israeli daily Maariv reported Monday. Israeli diplomats and the ambassador fled Egypt after protestors stormed the Israeli embassy on Sep. 9. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is searching for diplomats who will work in Egypt but have not been able to find any, Maariv reported. It began searching for single diplomats, due to the difficulty of finding suitable diplomats with families. Maariv reported that the new Israeli ambassador, Jacob Amity, who is scheduled to travel to Egypt in December, is thinking of abandoning his mission and is satisfied with his current post in foreign ministry. The ministry also has discussed shrinking the Israeli mission in Cairo to the ambassador, one political diplomat and consular officials. An interim embassy staff is scheduled will arrive in Cairo Monday, and return to Israel on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. Arabic here
