CAIRO: Egyptian Chief of Staff Sami Enan, vice president of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF), agreed on three main points during a meeting between council members and political parties. The first point was the repeal of Article 5 of the electoral law, which would allow political parties to nominate candidates to run independently of party lists. Second, Enan agreed to implement a timetable for the transfer of power to a civilian authority. Third, he approved on forming a Charter of Constitutional Principles, and choosing a constitutional body, said Mustafa el-Nagar, a founder of the Justice Party. Nagar added the 13 participating parties would meet to think about the Charter of Constitutional Principles to be drafted by Ali el-Selmy, the Egyptian Prime Minister for advisor for political affairs.
