CAIRO: The Egyptian El Geneina Theatre will present a program for the concluding ceremony of the Musical Remix Workshop on October 1. The Theatre will also present a series of musical shows from Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic. Around 17 Arab musicians will perform with the help of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKDN is a group of development agencies with mandates including the environment, health, education, architecture, culture, microfinance, rural development and disaster reduction. The first Remix concert will be held today, September 30, in Aswan, Upper Egypt. The concert provides the opportunity for artists to discover new musical ideas and share a cultural experience. On October 13, Egyptian singer Dina Masoud Aghan will perform traditional Egyptian folklore songs in a contemporary style. On October 14, Egyptian musician George Kazazian will play symphonies and on October 15, the Theater will host an Egyptian-Polish workshop ceremony. The workshop will discuss both Egyptian and Polish music and poetry, including poems authored by Polish poet Czeslaw Milosz that were translated into Arabic. Milosz was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1980. Arabic here
