Pope Shenouda III, leader of the Coptic Christian Church, met the American ambassador to Cairo, Anne Patterson, at St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in the Cairo neighborhood of Abbassia Monday. The Pope informed the ambassador about the Church's position regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections. Patterson's visit to the Pope is her first since she was assigned to be an ambassador to Cairo last August. After the meeting, Patterson said she was happy to visit the Pope, especially since this was her first visit. The ambassador also described the conversation with the Pope as "creative." It touched on various topics, such as the upcoming parliamentary elections, the current situation in Egypt and the Coptic Church's position after the January 25 Revolution.
