CAIRO: The leader of Egypt's ruling military council, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, completed his testimony in the trial of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak today. Tantawi arrived at the Police Academy in Cairo's Fifth Settlement, where the trial is being held, at 8:30 this morning. His testimony was completed at 10:30am. Judge Ahmed Fahmy allowed lawyers to present a specific number of questions to the country's military leader. Security measures prevented a large number of plaintiffs from entering the courtroom, so they were unable to question the witness. It is believed that Tantawi was questioned regarding Mubarak's involvement in the killing of protesters during Egypt's January 25 Revolution as well as the embezzlement of public funds. Outside the court, a number of Mubarak's supporters celebrated, believing that Tantawi's testimony supported Mubarak and did not condemn him. The former president is accused of premeditated murder of demonstrators and abusing public funds. His sons Alaa and Gamal, former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly and six of al-Adly's assistants are also defendants in the case. Arabic here
