CAIRO: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics stated the number of tourists in Egypt declined by 28.2 percent in July 2011. The number of tourists visiting Egypt reached 936,000 in July. There were 1.303 million tourists in July 2010. West European tourists were the least to visit Egypt. Their numbers reduced by 32 percent, followed by Middle Eastern tourist by 30.7 percent. Arab tourists also reduced to 219,000 tourists in July 2011 when they were 306,000 tourists in July 2010. They were reduced by 28.5 percent. The total number of Arab tourists spent 3.5 million nights in July 2011 when they spent one million nights in July 2010. This increase was resulted by Libyan tourists who stayed in Egypt to escape the crisis in Libya. In total, tourist nights reached 10.6 million nights during July 2011 when it was 12.8 million nights in 2010.
