The Chairman of the Qatari Al-Jazeera Network, Wadah Khanfar, announced his resignation from presidency of Al-Jazeera News channel after eight years. “After 8 years of pioneering work in Al-Jazeera Network, I now announce my resignation,” Khanfar said on his page on Twitter. He didn't mention any reason for his resignation, he only said, “I think any person will agree Al-Jazeera is now the strongest Arab media channel and its coverage is worldwide.” Khanfar assured he served Al-Jazeera as a reporter, manager and chairman on his Twitter page. He held a meeting with the principals of Al-Jazeera to discuss his decision of resignation. He was chairman of Al-Jazeera Network since 2006, after he was chairman of Al-Jazeera News Channel in 2003. A Wikileaks document revealed Khanfar's cooperation with U.S. military intelligence services in 2005, providing a monthly report presenting Al-Jazeera's mistakes in covering U.S. issues. The document added U.S. military forces largely intervened in some news coverage of Al-Jazeera channels.
