Neither Egyptian authorities nor Interpol have received any information that former Egyptian Finance Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali went to Spain, according to Ahmed Gamal al-Din, the chairman of Egypt's general security department. Investigations by Egyptian Interpol indicate that the former minister is in Qatar but he travels frequently to the United Arab Emirates. Gamal added that Egyptian authorities were not officially informed by Qatari officials that Youssef Boutros Ghali and former Minister of Trade Rashid Mohamed Rashid are in Qatar, but investigations confirm they are there. Egyptian businessman Hussen Salem fled to Spain in the wake of Egypt's January 25 Revolution. He currently faces money laundering charges in Spain, and the two countries have discussed extradition to Egypt, where Salem faces additional charges. In related news, judicial sources revealed that the British immigration department reported that the two former ministers took a private plane to an Arab country. Which country was not specified. Judicial sources added that the plane was found to belong to a Qatari figure and both former ministers were discovered to be in Qatar.
