The Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi today expressed Iran's willingness to improve Iranian—Egyptian relations and turn a new diplomatic page in post-revolution Egypt. “Iran seeks to improve its relations with all countries that witnessed notable change recently,” Salehi said in remarks during the first conference of the Islamic Revival. “Iran is ready to offer its experience.” The conference included several prominent intellectuals from the Islamic world, including Egyptian thinker Gamal Kotb, who represented al-Azhar's Grand Imam. Kotb delivered a speech calling for the unification of Muslims. “Egyptian youth went to Tahrir Square to protest corruption in their country,” Kotb said.
