CAIRO: Al-Jazeera's Mubasher Misr [Egypt] channel was not closed because of the media content, according to Egyptian Minister of Information Osama Heikal. Heikal said the Egyptian state can take any legal proceedings to maintain its sovereignty without intervening the freedom of media. Many violations evolved within the unstable conditions over the past few months, and authorities are obliged to follow current laws, which will maintain Egypt's sovereignty, he said. It is unaccepted for any channel to bring in its cameras, devices and broadcasting equipment without a license from the Egyptian state, which Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr had done, Heikal added.
