CAIRO: Chief of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi today declined to testify at the eleventh hour, citing challenging internal security conditions, an inside source reported. Stringent security precautions were in place since very early this morning to ensure the SCAF chief's access to the courtroom. Leaders in the ruling military council gave television reports earlier in the day confirming that Tantawi would testify in the case where former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, his two sons Gamal and Alaa, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and his six top security chiefs are accused of killing demonstrators during the January 25 Revolution.
