Several unknown persons yesterday broke into the fire department in Masr al-Kadima at dawn and stole a fire engine. When a patrolling police officer attempted to stop the theft he was stabbed to death by one of the assailants. The Public Prosecutor's office in Masr el-Kadima, headed by Malek Mustafa, reported that more than 500 people marching from Tahrir gave thugs an opportunity to use the confusion to break into the fire station. Director of Cairo Security Maj. Gen. Mohsen Murad has launched an investigation. After sending a description of the fire engine, one of the suspects was caught driving it and is now under interrogation by the Public Prosecutor's office.
