Arabic: حسن يونس Born: February 1943 Hassan Younis is Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Energy. He has a PhD in Electrical Power Engineering. Electric power in Egypt has witnessed major developments under Younis, who has also notably contributed to the improvement of Egypt's power stations. He is the Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC); he worked as the Senior Engineer for the planning of Egyptian Electric Power System, a maintenance engineer for computer system and an engineer in Thermal Power Plant. He served as the Chairman of the Arab Union for Electricity, Generators, Transmitters & Distributors, the chairman of the Mediterranean Energy Organization "L'organization Mediterranien de L'energie" (OME), the secretary of the Egyptian National Committee of the World Energy council. He has been accused of supporting the former regime of Hosni Mubarak. Several of the Ministry's employees held demonstrations against Younis demanding the improvement of their financial situations.
