AMMAN: Jordanian exports declined in Arab nations by 27 percent and 66 percent during the first half of this year, unlike Syria's increase of 12 percent. Exports increased in other Arab countries such as Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Bahrain. Jordanian department of statistics released the foreign trade report and stated Libya recorded the highest percentage of decline of export of six million Jordanian dinars (JD) (U.S. $4.98 million), while Libyan exports declined 5.17 million JD (U.S. $4.29 million). Egypt's exports reached 5.37 million JD (U.S. $4.46 million) compared to last year's 8.47 million JD (U.S. $ 7.04). Jordanian exports to Yemen declined by 1.41 percent, Tunisia by 1.27 percent. Syria reached 1million and 122,000 JD (U.S. $0.83 million and $101,400) compared to last year's eight million and 108,000 JD (U.S. $6.65 million and 89.7 thousand), where it witnessed an increase of 12 percent. It is worth mentioning the institution of developing economic projects in Jordan is seeking new markets for Jordanian exports, especially in Africa, Center of Asia and Arab Gulf nations.
