The head of national authority of subways, Atta el-Sherbiny, announced the first train of the third line of Cairo subway system arrived the new railway line. Its test run will begin mid-September of 2011. El-Sherbiny said the train is being transferring from the second line stop, Shobra Khema, to the third line stop in Abbasseya. The train is air-conditioned and will be transferred into two parts. The first part is already transferred and the second one will be transferred within the next 24 hours. Sherbiny said the constructions of the first stage of the third line are almost done. The signals, communication and central control systems are provided and the rail bar is accomplished along the line. The electrical feeder bar is also finished and the tickets machines arrived at the new stations. It is worth mentioning that the first phase of third line is 4.3 km long. It extends from Attaba to Abbasseya and has five stops: Abbasseya, Abdo Basha, el-Geish, Bab el-Sheareya and Attaba. The new line cost 3.4 billion EGP (U.S. $570.6 million).
