An Egyptian lawyer is suing Egypt's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to recall Egypt's ambassador to Israel, following a border incident in which the Israeli military killed several members of Egyptian security services. Nora el-Fara of the Arab Lawyers Union, submitted the lawsuit before the Administrative Judiciary Court against Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr. El-Fara argues that the dignity of the Egyptian citizen was lost after the incident. The suit seeks to recall the Egyptian ambassador to Israel unless there is an official apology from the Israeli government. Thursday, an Israeli helicopter crossed the Egyptian border and fired on Egyptian positions as it pursued militants, according to United Nations monitors in the Sinai Peninsula. A cabinet statement on Friday sought to recall the Egyptian ambassador, until the cabinet reversed its decision. The cessation of the withdrawal triggered protests outside the Israeli embassy Friday and Saturday. The Israeli ambassador said he has no intention of leaving and requested that security forces secure the embassy.
