SHARQIA, Egypt: The Egyptian governor of Sharqia Azazi Ali Azazi today decided to honor Ahmed Shahat, the so-called “Flagman,” by holding a celebration for him, granting him a housing unit and providing him a job befitting his status as a national hero. Shahat is the young Egyptian man who climbed 13 stories on a Giza building and replaced the Israeli flag with an Egyptian flag at the top of Israeli Embassy in Cairo. Azazi phoned Shahat to congratulate him for his nationality and bravery. Azazi considers Shahat one an Egyptian heroes saying, "Ahmed Orabi is an Egyptian who rejects authority inheritance, Mohamed el-Masri is an Egyptian who planted the Egyptian flag on Sinai after the October 1973 War and Ahmed Shahat is the Egyptian Spiderman who took off the Star of David and replaced with Egyptian flag.”
