“The Ouja border crossing and trading point between Egypt and Israel in Central Sinai has been closed by the Egyptian authorities for an indefinite period following recent events at the border,” said an Egyptian source today. The closure of the port will halt all movement of exports between Egypt and Israel. The Ouja border traditionally receives transports of the following: palm leaves, fish, gypsum, charcoal, fodder, fertilizer, cooking oil, lubricating oil, sodium, caustic soda, spices, flour, plastic materials, medicinal herbs and dates. The closure will likely cause Israel economic harm, the source added.
