CAIRO: Ibdaa Creativity Center in Taz Prince Palace is hosting a harp concert by musician Manal Mohy el-Din today. Manal is going to perform global classical musical works in addition to traditional Arab music pieces. Manal Mohy el-Din is one of the first Egyptian harp players. She is now internationally renowned for her skills, and is considered one of the top ten harpists in the world. Mahal has giver performances with musician Fathy Salama. She used to merge between eastern and jazz music. Manal formed a band of seven musicians. She aims to arrange the works Riyad al-Sunbati and Mohamed Abdel Wahab to fit the harp. Riyad al-Sunbati was an Egyptian musician, 1906-1981, who wrote and composed many great and famous songs for movies and radio. Mohamed Abdel Wahab was a great Egyptian musician. He played Oud before the Prince of Poets, Ahmed Shawqi. Abdel Wahab acted in several movies and was a close friend to loved Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez. Abdel Wahab composed many songs and musical pieces in classic Arab music, introduced Western rhythms to Arab songs in a way appropriate to the known forms of Arab songs. He was the first Egyptian singer to move from silent-era acting to singing. He died of heart failure.
