The fourth annual International Festival of Sufic Hymn and Music, titled “The Home is Human,” opened yesterday in the Ghawri Dome in the Islamic Al Hussein neighborhood in Cairo. The Egyptian Minister of Culture Emad Abou Ghazy officially opened the festival. “The festival is historically significant,” said Ghazy, as the Ghawri Dome was an important part of the antiquities owned by Sultan Qansuh al-Ghawri who was alive at the end of Mamluk's era in the Middle Ages. Ghazy also spoke about the cultural significance of the January 25 Revolution and offered his best wishes for fair elections and a new constitution for the nation. “I hope the cultural field experiences a genuine shift into democracy where all opinions are respected,” said Ghazy.
