CAIRO: Egypt's former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly arrived at the Police Academy in Cairo's Fifth Settlement this morning under intense security to attend the second hearing in his trial. Six of al-Adly's assistants are co-defendants in the case: Ahmed Mohamed Ramzy, first deputy of the Minister of Interior for security; and former director of public security Adly Fayed; former Chief of State Security Hassan Mohamed Abdel Rahman; former chief of Cairo security Ismail el-Shaeir; former chief of Giza security Osama el-Marasy; and former chief of security of 6 October City Omar el-Faramawy. They are accused of killing demonstrators during Egypt's January 25 uprising.
