CAIRO: The declarations of new ministers of Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's government reflected their desire to satisfy Egyptians who protested against the performance of the former government. Despite the continuation of protests, the new government will work to achieve reform in different ministries during the current transitional stage to pave the way for the next parliamentary elections. Deputy Prime Minister for political development and democratic change, Dr. Ali al-Salmi, said slogans can't achieve democracy. He pointed out the main mission of his government is to turn people's demands into objectives and plans aiming to turn Egypt into a democratic regime. He pledged he will call all political powers and groups to achieve the demands of Tahrir Square protesters. He made these claims during a phone call with ‘This is the Capital' TV program. Egypt's new Foreign Minister, Mohamed Kamel Amr, said Egypt's foreign agenda will focus on Arabs and looks forward to the return of Egyptian leadership. He added Africa will be top priority for Egyptian policy, stressing the Foreign Ministry has deep experiences to deal with Africa to achieve the interests of both sides. Amr told press he will work to achieve Egyptian's interest, confirming Egypt's foreign agenda will reflect Egyptians' aspirations after the January 25 Revolution. Egyptian Minister of High Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Motaz Khorshid, said changing presidents of Egypt's universities doesn't need a ministerial decision but also a general political decision. Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Salah al-Sayed Yousef, said he will work to restore the rights of Egyptian farmers. He added the main objective of his ministry is to develop Egypt's agricultural strategy during the next stage and to activate agricultural scientific research. He said there are agricultural crops with economic importance to be expand cultivated crops such as cotton and wheat. Egyptian Minister of Local Development, Judge Mohamed Ahmed Atia, said he will participate and choose new governors; assuring most of the governors will change before the end of the current month. He said he will work to develop local councils.
