Egypt press focused on burning issues like the explosion of the Egyptian gas pipeline to Israel, Jordan, and Syria; the media tackled clashes that broke out in Cairo among police and residents in the Dewaqa slums yesterday.
Youm7:
Clashes triggered yesterday among security forces of Manshiatt Nasser police station and the families who own Suzanne Maubarak's houses amid security chaos after the January 25 Revolution. The families refused to leave the houses and threaten to explode them by gas tubes if they are forced to evacuate, according to the daily newspaper Youm7.
Members of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) met with certain members of the January 25 Revolutionaries, who represent most Egyptian entities, to discuss several issues concerns of the youth.
Al-Ahram:
Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Sami Anan, met with heads of political parties in secretariat of Ministry of Defense to discuss the bill of Peoples' Assembly and the upcoming elections.
January 25 Revolution martyr's relatives closed Desert Suez Cairo road after the Criminal Court decided to release demonstrators' killers on a 10,000 EGP (U.S. $1,677) bail.
Al-Akhbar:
Chairman of SCAF, Hussein Tantawi, approved of the state's general budget of 2011/2012 after the cabinet agreed on it. The budget includes total expenses with a cost of 491 billion EGP (U.S. $82.3 billion) to record a 15 percent increase. It is expected that spending will reach 54 percent of total expenses.
Al-Wafd:
Tahrir Square demonstrators moved their tents from the center of the Square to the garden in front of the Tahrir Complex after clashes among the demonstrators and vendors.
After Cairo Criminal Court's verdict, the martyr's relatives destroyed and vandalized the court. The court announced postponing the trial against the policemen and police officers that are accused by killing the demonstrators to September 14.
Al-Masry Al-Youm:
Egypt's main gas pipeline exploded in Arish, North Sinai, for the third time after January 25 Revolution. It is still unknown who caused the explosion. Gas stopped flowing to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.
The Free Front for Peaceful Change decided to suspend the ‘Constitution First' campaign, which aims to collect 15 million signatures calling for working on the constitution before holding the parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, political powers differed on slogans for the million-man demonstration on July 8.
Al-Dostor:
April 6 Movement called on all residents in all governorates to participate in the Friday of Retaliation demonstration on July 8.
Al-Shorouq:
The Administrative Court refused the court order introduced by World Bank (WB) to stop the verdict to revoke the contract of selling Omar Effendi chain of retail.
Al- Gomhorreya:
Chairman of SCAF, Hussein Tantawi, revoked the decision of allocating 100 million EGP (U.S. $16.8 million) from the National Service Projects body of the Military Force to start establishing a fund for the January 25 Revolution victims' families.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf, ordered to form a board of directors for the fund.
