Hosny said it was clear Mubarak did not know the truth of what was happening in the streets of Egypt. Hosny said corruption and the general climate of Egypt that dominated the past few years are the main reasons behind the collapse of the former regime. He made these statements in an interview in ‘Fi el-Midan' on Tahrir channel last night. Hosny explained his relationship with the sons of the former Egyptian president, Gamal and Alaa Mubarak, was quite superficial and his relationship with Hosni Mubarak was purely professional. Hosny claimed he had nothing to do with the formerly ruling National Democratic Party. "I do not bear any responsibility for the collapse of the former regime. Those who claimed I took the Van Gogh's painting ‘Poppies' and gave it to Suzanne Mubarak have lost their minds. I did not give any artifacts as gifts during my tenure,” he said. Hosny revealed he was married twice before becoming the Minister of Culture and once after but did not wish to go into details concerning his personal life.
