Egypt press focused on several topics including the Ministry of Interior's announcement of security alert to (C) level for a million-man demonstration on July 8. The press also tackled Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's praise to Egyptian Investments in Equatorial Guinea.
Youm7:
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced the security alert for the plan of a million-man demonstration on July 8. The Ministry sent all police stations and directorates' leaflets warning of all political powers and activists will demonstrate next Friday in Tahrir Square.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out in Sallum town between security forces and the residents. Three people were injured when security forces shot and killed a smuggler. The smuggler's relatives broke into Sallum police station and burnt it and five police cars.
Al-Ahram:
Egyptian Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf, praised Egyptian investments in Equatorial Guinea and the Egyptian labor community there. Meanwhile, the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, said the community respects all rules, laws and cares of Guinean people.
Al-Akhbar:
Greek authorities prevented small boats, which carried aids for Gaza Strip, to lift the blockade on it, to enter its regional water. However, the activities refused to comply with the Greek authority's request and accused Greece of approaching Israel for financial aid to face the current crisis.
Al-Wafd:
“Egyptian family of seven members for sale at any price" was written on a sign on a tent in Tahrir Square. The tent owner, Abdel Nasser al-Halafi, said he decided to sell his children in an auction since he failed to raise enough money for them to live.
A controversy aroused among Salafis, Sufis, and Shiites after Mamdouh Ismael said the celebration of Amena Bint Wahb, the Prophet Mohammad's mother, is meaningless.
Al-Masry Al-Youm:
Ministerial Committee for legislative and political affairs revised five bills and referred it to the cabinet for consideration. The bills includes provisions of Peoples' Assembly, the Shoura Council, forming a Food Safety Authority, amendments for University laws and amendments to provisions of competition protection and prevention of the monopolistic law.
Iran decided to fire 25 members of Gamaa al-Islamiyya outside its territories. It hosted them during the U.S war against Afghanistan. Among the deported members are brothers Mohammad Shawqy and Khaled al-Islambouli's. Khaled is the assassin of the Egyptian president Anwar Sadat. The members are hesitating whether to go back to Egypt and be imprisoned or go to Pakistan where Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) would follow them.
Al-Dostor:
The residents of the town of Mansoura in the Daqahliya governorate, put placards in the streets to boycott Mobinil Company and its owner, businessman Nagib Sawiris. Sawiris insulted Islam and Muslims by posting an online cartoon of Mickey Mouse with a beard and Minnie in a face veil. On the placards, they wrote, "Sawiris, we refuse your apology."
Al-Shorouq:
An anonymous top source said to the Independent newspaper Al-Shorouq the government declined to apply all pension increases scheduled in the State's General Budget. But it decided to cash 10 percent of pensions as a bonus.
"The Government in this current period seeks to achieve stability and economic growth for its people, what would happen if the government failed to do so?" This is a question was put in the Egyptian secondary school exams, which ended Saturday, according to the paper.
Al-Gomhorreya:
Thugs imposed their control on Tahrir Square for the second time after the Revolution Youth's withdrawal; the thugs announced their sit-in until next Friday, and brought wood and barbed wire to enclose the area, which is turned into a market and vendors.
Prime Minister Essam Sharaf highlighted good bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Turkey. He welcomed his Turkish Counterpart, Ragab Tayyip Erdogan's, visit to Egypt scheduled for July 20.
