Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has established a liaison committee between the government and Egyptian scientist abroad in order to benefit from those scientists. Sharaf met a delegation from the Egyptian Scientists Association in North America, established in Canada in 1974. During the meeting he studied the recommendations of the association concerning the selection of University presidents. The association said selection doesn't have to be by election. They talked about the Canadian experiment in selecting University presidents, having governors participate, and selecting the president according to his academic experience. The association also suggested ideas to develop higher education and scientific research organizations, as well as how to link scientific research with industry in Egypt. Essam Sharaf confirmed that his government will adopt scientific research as the only way to realize the Egyptian people's ambitions, and achieve progress and economic development.
